Drawing on his extensive experience across biotechnology investment and drug development, John will focus on practical strategies for building effective, high‑value relationships with industry partners.
The seminar will highlight approaches to framing research in ways that resonate with commercial audiences, supporting clearer communication and more purposeful engagement.
John will also outline how researchers can develop a concise and compelling “elevator pitch”, understand differing commercial objectives, and translate academic insights into tangible, jargon‑free business value. The session will emphasise trust, clarity and shared benefit as essential foundations for impactful collaboration.

About our speaker:
Dr John Kurek is the Biotechnology Investment Director at Uniseed, where he identifies commercial opportunities across partner research organisations and oversees the fund’s biotechnology and life sciences portfolio. He has extensive experience managing drug development programs from discovery through to clinical phases.
He holds a PhD in Neuroscience and brings deep expertise in evaluating, developing and positioning research for commercial translation.
