ACADI July Seminar
ACADI July Seminar: Type 1 diabetes in the 21st century: prediction, prevention, possibilities
Join us in July as Prof. Maria Craig presents Type 1 diabetes in the 21st century: prediction, prevention, possibilities.
This seminar will examine current global efforts to screen the general population for islet autoimmunity, alongside increasing attention on preserving beta cell function both before and after a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. As approaches to prediction and prevention continue to develop, the session will also consider the opportunities emerging in this space, and the challenges that remain in applying these strategies in practice.
In this seminar, Prof. Craig will explore:
🔍 Global efforts to screen populations for islet autoimmunity
🧪 The growing focus on preserving beta cell function before and after diagnosis
🔄 Evolving approaches to prediction and prevention of type 1 diabetes
⚖️ Ongoing challenges in translating these approaches into practice
