ACADI October Seminar: The Role of Protein Ingestion in Glucose and Hypoglycaemia Management in Type 1 Diabetes
Join us in October as Dr Dale Morrison explores The Role of Protein Ingestion in Glucose and Hypoglycaemia Management in Type 1 Diabetes.
Protein ingestion may have important effects on glucose levels in people living with type 1 diabetes, with responses varying according to the type and amount of protein consumed. This seminar will explore emerging research in this area, including how different proteins influence glycaemia and the potential role of protein as a strategy for preventing and managing hypoglycaemia.
The session will provide an overview of current evidence and its implications for people living with type 1 diabetes, particularly in the context of exercise and daily glucose management.
In this seminar, Dr Morrison will explore:
π How protein ingestion can influence glucose levels in people with type 1 diabetes
π§ͺ How different types of protein affect glycaemia
π‘ The potential role of protein in preventing and managing hypoglycaemia
π The relevance of protein intake for glucose management during exercise
About our speaker:
Dr Dale Morrison is an exercise physiologist and Senior Research Fellow with the Diabetes Technology Research Group at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on glucose and amino acid metabolism, exercise physiology, and cardiometabolic health.
Dr Morrison's work explores how nutrition, novel technologies and emerging therapeutics can help reduce the challenges associated with diabetes management and improve outcomes for people living with type 1 diabetes.
