Kimberley Indigenous Cognitive Assessment (KICA) Tools
The Kimberley Indigenous Cognitive Assessment (KICA) was developed in response to the need for a validated cognitive screening tool for older Aboriginal Australians living in rural and remote areas. Since its development, adapted forms have also been validated for Torres Strait Islander people and for Aboriginal people living in urban/regional areas. The full KICA includes components on cognition (KICA-Cog), depression (KICA-Dep), and family corroboration sections (KICA-Carer, KICA-Behaviour and KICA-ADL). A shorter KICA-Screen (sKICA) has also been developed.
All KICA tools are available for download from the Aboriginal Ageing Well Research website through the University of Western Australia. The tools are free to use, however visitors are required to register an account to access them.
