Making advanced brain imaging tools translatable in psychiatry and beyond
Advanced brain imaging tools have the potential to detect subtle brain changes that map closely onto clinical symptoms and brain function. These tools could transform clinical diagnosis of neurological and psychiatric conditions that rely on symptoms alone.
Dr Remika Mito’s research team is focused on helping to translate some of these advanced brain imaging tools into clinical use and practice.
Research highlights:
- Travelling Heads study: this study is helping to make advanced MRI comparable across sites in Melbourne, as a current barrier to translation is that MRI measures are highly dependent on MRI scanner hardware and acquisition
- Collaborative research: We work closely with researchers from MCRI and the Florey to improve our brain imaging tools across different clinical and research sites
