Newsletter: August, 2024
Welcome to the first edition of the Department of Psychiatry Newsletter
Welcome to our new quarterly Department of Psychiatry Newsletter. This initiative aims to strengthen communication and celebrate the outstanding work within our department. We will keep you informed about the latest research developments, achievements, upcoming events, and other relevant information.
Our newsletter aims to:
- Keep everyone updated: Provide regular updates on ongoing research projects, publications, and notable achievements within our department.
- Share success stories: Celebrate the successes of our colleagues, including awards, grants, and recognitions.
- Highlight events and activities: Inform you about seminars, conferences, workshops, and social gatherings.
The Department is going through a period of transition as we develop a new strategy and operating model. We are concluding our work with David Bowering, Senior Consultant from CLA Solutions, who has helped us with this. The work has included six workshops and three all-staff consultations, to gather valuable feedback from all department staff and our partners across the Melbourne Medical School, MDHS, and health services.
As part of that transition, the University have overseen the upgrading and refurbishment of the third floor of the Alan Gilbert Building, where Parvkille-based staff will be housed. This will mark the beginning of a new a chapter for the Department, as we move to a more integrated and collaborative way of working.
We hope this newsletter too fosters a sense of community and shared purpose within the Department. We welcome contributions for future issues: please let us know of any achievements and developments that you would like to share.
Kind regards,
Professor Chris Davey
