Elias El-Barhoun

I am a third-year medical student at the University of Melbourne, currently undertaking a research project with the Department of Surgery at Western Health under the supervision of Professor Justin Yeung. My project explores the potential role of artificial intelligence in imaging-based prediction of pathological complete response following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer.

This project is particularly exciting due to its focus on artificial intelligence, highlighting the cutting-edge research opportunities available within this group. I am eager to see how this research unfolds and the impact it will have once completed.

Although I have only been working with Professor Yeung for a month, I am confident that I am in good hands. He is incredibly responsive to any questions I have and brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. I look forward to the journey ahead and highly recommend other students to consider joining this research team.
