2024 Technical Innovation in Surgery Prize
The 2024 Technical Innovation in Surgery Prize - theme of Space was held in the Arts West Building at the University of Melbourne on Wednesday 4th September.
It was a full house event where over 50 attendees participated in presenting their research in developing solutions for surgical challenges in space. Twelve group of students from different disciplines presented their posters towards this year's awards including robotics, 3D tissue printing and developing a risk tool to determine the need for prophylactic surgery. Key note speakers Dr Lisa Brown and Dr Rowena Christiansen enlightened the audience on their experience in space medicine and the new Discovery Module on human health in a space environment which helped students understand the importance of developing innovation in this field.
