Team Awarded with NHMRC grant of $1.6 million

A team led by Lei Zhang, Jason Ong, Richard Hillman, Justin Yeung, ZongYuan Ge, Debra Scott, Reshi Suthakaran, Vincent Cornelisse and Jiajun Sun have been awarded a NHMRC grant of $1.6 million to develop an AI assisted diagnostic and prognostic tool to improve on early detection and management of HSIL from high resolution anoscopy.

Anal cancer is a growing health problem with HSIL being a known precursor of anal squamous cell carcinoma. However current clinical practice lacks the ability to accurately determine which HSIL lesions progress to cancer.

A fantastic example of multidisciplinary collaboration across Australia and multiple hospitals and university institutions, University of Melbourne, Monash University, Western Health, St Vincent's Hospital and Mater Health.
