ROSELLA Study: Implementation of risk-stratified population screening for Australia’s most common cancers
Project Details
The ROSELLA (Risk-stratifed Population Cancer Screening Implementation) Implementation Study will explore how genomically-guided risk-stratified cancer screening could be sustainably implemented in Australia. ROSELLA will seek to support evidence-based policy making through two parallel work packages:
- The first package will interview key stakeholders influential in the design and implementation of population cancer screening, determining evidence gaps, opportunities and barriers to risk-stratified screening. Participants will include policymakers, screening program managers, community members, and GPs. Evidence will be produced to inform a comprehensive implementation strategy and design of a new risk-stratified cancer screening program for the most common cancers in Australia (breast, colorectal, prostate and melanoma).
- The second package will assess how patients respond to taking a DNA cancer risk assessment from their general practice, and how a risk-stratified screening program could be implemented in general practice to ensure all Australians have equitable access to this new program. Five Victorian general practices will be engaged to determine the most-apt approach to screening.
