MBCIU at VBIC 2024 Annual Network Meeting

The Victorian Biomedical Imaging Capability (VBIC) Annual Network Meeting was held on Monday the 18th of November 2024. Prof. Leigh Johnston,  VBIC Chair and Director of the MBCIU, opened proceedings for what would be an interesting and informative day.

Igor Tyschenko, an MBCIU PhD candidate, presented his work on subpopulation universal pulses in 7T MRI. Igor's work aims to address  a key challenge in  ultra high field MRI - energy limitations - by implementing RF pulses tailored to different head shapes and sizes allowing for greater efficiency.

In the afternoon the MBCIU hosted a tour of the imaging facility which was well received. This was an opportunity for other network members to see the  7T MRI and PET/CT along with the amenities of the facility that enables the application of these scientific instruments.
