Dr. Yasmin Blunck Receives GCI Industry Collaboration Funding

Dr. Yasmin Blunck has recently  been awarded funding  for the project "Simultaneous anatomical and physiological MRI in musculoskeletal imaging" along with MBCIU alum Dr.  Jon Cleary and  Prof. Gregor Adriany  from  the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research at the University of Minnesota. Funding has been awarded under the 2024 Graeme Clark Institute Industry Collaboration Funding Scheme.

This project will aim to develop MRI techniques to obtain structural anatomical information while simultaneously imaging sodium content for physiological information. This will provide time-efficient imaging of body regions such as the knee where physiological imaging can help diagnose changes in cartilage and muscle . Previously the clinical application of  physiological imaging has been limited due to hardware and time constraints thus it is anticipated to improve diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal conditions.
