Department Spotlight: Commencement of Associate Professor Leo Chen

We’re delighted to welcome Associate Professor Leo Chen to the department, who commenced his role of Associate Professor of Psychiatry at St Vincent’s Hospital on 1 July.

Associate Professor Leo Chen

Leo is a psychiatrist, medical educator and neuroscientist, recognised as an emerging international leader in the field of brain stimulation. He holds a PhD from Monash University and a Master of Psychiatry from the University of Melbourne. Leo brings this extensive experience working across clinical practice, research, and medical education to the role.

Leo joins us from the Department of Psychiatry, School of Translational Medicine, Monash University, where he served as Head and Principal Investigator of the Brain Stimulation Lab and Therapeutic Trials Unit. His work has focused on translational neuroscience, with the aim of better understanding and treating mental illnesses, and leading clinical trials.

Leo also served as Director of Psychiatry Training at Alfred Health, leading the education, training, and research supervision of 60 psychiatry trainees.
