Events and Communications Coordinator Update
I’m excited to update you on the ongoing and upcoming initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility and impact of the research within the Department.
New Initiatives:
- Research Spotlight Series: I’m launching a "Research Spotlight" feature in our newsletters and on our department website, highlighting significant projects, key findings, and the researchers behind them. This will be a platform to showcase the department’s work to both internal and external audiences.
- Enhanced Media Collaboration: To ensure your research receives the attention it deserves, I’m working closely with the university’s media team to coordinate media outreach for significant publications, particularly those under embargo or likely to attract public or academic interest. Additionally, I’ve compiled a list of contact details for op-ed pieces, so if there’s something in the media that aligns with our department's expertise, our media team now has a comprehensive list of our academic contact details and areas of interest.
- Social Media Engagement: I’m also exploring ways to amplify our department’s social media presence by featuring regular updates on research, events, and publications. This will help engage a broader audience and increase visibility for your work.
Broadening Support for Your Research:
- Recruitment for Trials: If your research involves clinical trials or participant recruitment, I can assist with developing strategies to increase participation and awareness, including targeted communications and outreach efforts.
- Website Content Management: I’m available to support the development and updating of web content to ensure our online presence accurately reflects our research. This includes creating dedicated pages for specific research areas, updating project details, and promoting upcoming events.
- Event Promotion and Support: Whether you’re hosting a seminar, conference, or public lecture, I can help promote your event through various channels, including newsletters, social media, and the university’s event platforms.
As these initiatives take shape, I encourage all academics to keep me updated on any upcoming research publications or papers under embargo. This allows me to collaborate with the media team to create a tailored communications strategy that aligns with your goals and ensures your work reaches the right audience
Finally, if you have any other ideas or suggestions on how I can better support you or promote your research, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can reach me here mia.taylor@unimelb.edu.au
