Bringing Mental Health Research to the Bedside: Updates from Ramsay Clinic Albert Road

Hello from Ramsay Clinic Albert Road, a key teaching site for the University with 118 beds offering clinical services for adolescents, adults, older adults, addiction support, and the Women’s Recovery Network (Wren) in partnership with Alfred Health.

Under the leadership of Professor Malcolm Hopwood, the research group focuses on translational research, aiming to bring mental health research directly to patient care, akin to practices in oncology.

Research Highlights

  • Clinical Trials: We're conducting trials on novel and repurposed compounds, including a psychoactive empathogen, ACE inhibitors, combination therapies, ketamine, Esketamine, and others. We're also exploring electrode placements for RUL Ultra brief ECT.
  • Collaborative Research: Collaborating on pharmacogenomics, proteomic markers in mood disorders with Royal Melbourne Hospital, and evaluating Hospital in the Home (HiTH) for Wren with Phoenix. Exploring novel techniques to reduce craving in detoxified individuals with Turning Point.
