ABC10 'Mechanobiology Across the Scales'

The University of Melbourne is proud to host the 10th Australasian Biomechanics Congress (ABC10).  ABC10 is the Biennial Scientific meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Biomechanics (ANZSB). The Congress is designed to provide an innovative and comprehensive overview of the latest research in various branches of biomechanics, and includes keynote presentations from distinguished international speakers.

The theme of ABC10 is "Mechanobiology across the Scales." As a discipline at the interface of biology and engineering, mechanobiology has grown significantly in the past decade. Major efforts have been made to better characterise the effects of physical forces on cells, tissues and organs, and it is now well accepted that mechanical forces are involved in development, physiology, disease and repair processes.

The 2016 Congress will address various topics in biomechanics including: mechanobiology, tissue engineering, medical imaging, biomechanics in human movement, clinical and sports biomechanics, computational modeling, and other related topics in biomechanics. The organising committee and industry sponsors are excited to host ABC10 in Melbourne, Victoria and look forward will showcasing the latest research in biomechanics across Australia.

ABC10 will be held at the University of Melbourne from 4 - 6 December 2016 and is chaired by Associate Professor Peter Pivonka, who leads the Mechanobiology and Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory in the Department of Surgery at St Vincent's Hospital.  Please visit the ABC10 website for more details.
