Future Health Today celebrates trial start and injection of funding
The Future Health Today trial kicked off on 4th October with 41 general practices participating in the 12-month trial to determine whether the software tool optimises chronic disease diagnosis and management.
Participating practices have been randomised into two groups with a different chronic disease focus in each. They have access to an innovative clinical decision support tool and a portal designed to track cohorts of patients needing diagnostic testing and investigation, clinical review or revised management. Underpinning the tool is a suite of quality improvement and education opportunities including Project ECHO® sessions and guideline resources.
In a boost to the ongoing development of Future Health Today and an associated trial recruitment program, TorchRecruit, the research team (from The University of Melbourne and Western Health) was recently awarded $749,981 from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) through the Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) program.
Based on the technical building blocks from Future Health Today, TorchRecruit uses the innovative technology to automatically identify trial eligible patients in general practices across Australia.
Currently in development, TorchRecruit is designed to accelerate patient recruitment, facilitating timely completion of trials and translation of findings to optimise health.
The team looks forward to launching TorchRecruit early next year.
