Clinical supervision training in China

Professor Elizabeth Molloy and Brett Vaughan from the Department of Medical Education recently visited two Melbourne Medical School partners, Zhe Jiang University and Tsinghua University to present the Department's Advanced Clinical Supervision short course to over 200 clinical educators.

Clinical supervision training in China

The visit represented a fantastic opportunity to work with clinical supervisors at affiliated healthcare organisations, as well as meet with the faculty and administrative staff within the medical courses.

These workshops highlighted that many of the clinical supervision challenges experienced in Chinese medical education are similar to those experienced in Australia, including the tension in managing service demands with learning needs of students across the continuum.

There was substantial interest in the research-informed guidelines for effective feedback and workplace-based assessment.  The visit also helped to establish shared research opportunities relating to the scholarship of teaching and learning in the clinical environment. We're looking forward to continuing to develop these relationships into the future.
