Professor Kate Leslie appointed Australian Medical Council President

Professor Kate Leslie, Head of Research, Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Honorary Professor, Centre for Integrated Critical Care, Melbourne Medical School, has been elected President and Chair of the board of directors of the Australian Medical Council.

Professor Leslie, an internationally-renowned anaesthesia researcher, was appointed to AMC Council in 2011 and was elected as a director in 2013.

She was a member (2011-20) and chair (2015-2000) of the AMC Specialist Education Accreditation Committee, and was Deputy President (2018-20).

"In the next two years our challenge will be to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and embed some of the fantastic innovations that have arisen from it," Professor Leslie said.

"The AMC shares these challenges with universities, colleges and health services."
