Jan Hodgson receives the 2021 MDHS Staff Excellence Award

Congratulations to Associate Professor Jan Hodgson at the Department of Paediatrics for being awarded the MDHS Award for Excellence in Staff Supervision.

Jan is recognised for her excellence in values-based leadership of a collaborative, supportive and respectful team, fostering the career progression of individual members and enabling team-based high performance.

She commenced her role as the Program Director for the Master of Genetic Counselling (MGC) and Master of Genomics and Health (MGH) programs in 2017. She has used her vision and dedication to lead a team of 10 academic and professional staff in genetics, counselling, and research. Jan’s thoughtful, collaborative, and respectful leadership style provides the ideal environment for her staff to develop their skills to their full potential and achieve their career goals.

During these difficult COVID times which has required the entire team to move to online learning Jan has been instrumental in providing all the support staff need from all perspectives ie. Academic training, seeking training resources for all staff and supporting team members through individual personal circumstances to ensure they were all able to deliver a quality teaching program despite the obvious challenges.

Well done Jan as you exemplify the faculty values of collaboration and teamwork, compassion, respect, integrity, and accountability.
