Student Association Charity Gala a Great Success

The Melbourne Children’s Campus Research Student Association (MCCRSA) is pleased to announce that their inaugural charity Gala, run on the 16th of August, was successful in raising a grand total of $11,001 to support Very Special Kids.

This event was a glamorous occasion that brought together 210 students, supervisors, researchers, and health professionals from more than 10 institutions from across the Parkville precinct, providing a unique networking opportunity in a fun and positive environment. In addition to the funds raised before the event, a further $1500 was raised for Very Special Kids in raffle ticket sales throughout the evening, taking the MCCRSA well past their $10,000 donation goal.

To celebrate this success, MCCRSA hosted a cake day Friday last week in Synapse where they were able to deliver the cheque to one of Very Special Kids representatives. This event was held as a thank you to everyone at MCRI for all their support. It was also a chance for students and staff to enjoy some cakes and interact with Very Special Kids and learn more about the Gala and how the funds raised would be used to support families in need.

The overall success of this Charity Gala is a testament to the passion of our research community here at MCRI and across Melbourne, as well as the incredible ambition of our students. Thank you to all who attended and contributed, your support is appreciate and we look forward to more events like this in the future.
