Medical Humanities
Medical Humanities
Overview
This topic brings together medical science, creativity and the arts for a socially engaged approach to health and wellbeing. Using perspectives drawn from the humanities as a 'lens' through which to consider medicine and medical identity, and using examples from the Arts (visual arts, music, performance, multimedia arts, literary texts, etc) as core resources, the topic offers a variety of activities, including group site visits to cultural venues. Through the topic, key skills are identified and practiced, and diverse perspectives are explored, with the interdisciplinary topic leads supporting the integration of these experiences into medical contexts, with scholarly and reflective outcomes.
