Online Learning Module: Service Delivery Of Medical Termination Of Pregnancy In A Rural Context
This free online module is one in a series of rural sexual health modules created by CERSH. This module specifically focusing on the service delivery of medical termination of pregnancy in a rural context. The module will take you through issues worth considering when setting up a medical abortion service in a rural setting. It includes examples of how it has been done and the different models of care that have been used.

RACGP Pregnancy Advice and Support Training
RACGP offers e-learning for GPs to provide pregnancy advice and support (including assessment). The training takes 4 hrs to complete, and provides eight category 2 points. It is also available to psychologists, social workers, and mental health care nurses.

Implanon NXT Training provided by Sexual Health Victoria (SHV)
Sexual Health Victoria (SHV) offers Implanon NXT training for doctors, nurses and midwives. Please note that these courses may incur a fee.

RACGP Online Professional Development Program on Family Violence
This is a toolkit for RACGP members, about the prevalence and the impact of family violence, the skills needed to identify family violence, collaboration with the family violence sector, and self-care in the context of family violence. There are four online modules to complete and the program is accredited by the RACGP QI&CPD.
Support Networks

Royal Women’s Hospital, Sexual & Reproductive Health Clinical Champion Network
The Clinical Champion Network is based at The Royal Women’s Hospital, Parkville and led by Dr Paddy Moore, Head of Unit Abortion and Contraception Service and Cath Hannon, Project Co-ordinator. The Royal Women’s Hospital is an established provider of abortion and contraception direct services and is able to offer this experience to the primary and secondary sectors. The project is state-wide and has the flexibility to respond to the needs of individuals and organisations through support, advice and mentoring.
The Clinical Champion Network can:
- Provide secondary consultation on clinical management of abortion and LARC,
- Provide on-site training in IUD or Implanon insertion to eligible clinicians,
- Facilitate access to training opportunities at the IUD insertion clinic at The Royal Women’s Hospital,
- Support and advise on organisational level change strategies to enable the routine provision of abortion and LARC direct service in primary care and publically funded hospitals,
- Assist in the development and/or revision of evidence based clinical practice policies and procedures.

Victorian Rural Clinical Network For Unintended Pregnancy And Abortion
This clinical network is coordinated by CERSH and relates to the clinical care and pathways for people experiencing unintended pregnancy and abortion in rural Victoria. Areas of focus include case studies related to medical abortion, uptake of effective contraception post abortion, and service system development.
Dr Paddy Moore, Head of the Abortion and Contraception Service, Royal Women’s Hospital is the clinical lead for the network. Participants include General Practitioners, practice nurses, nurse practitioners, Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, practice managers, researchers, and specialist abortion providers.
