Promoting Sexual Health Organisational Opportunities Checklist

The Promoting Sexual Health Organisational Opportunities Checklist is a practical tool developed to support rural and regional services in strengthening their approach to sexual and reproductive health (SRH). It helps organisations reflect on current practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and plan for more integrated and responsive SRH services.

About the Checklist

The Promoting Sexual Health Organisational Opportunities Checklist is designed to help rural and regional organisations reflect on how they currently support sexual and reproductive health and where they might grow further.

This strengths-based tool encourages teams to explore how SRH is embedded across service delivery, leadership, workforce development, community engagement, and access. Whether you're just getting started or building on existing efforts, the checklist supports meaningful conversations and practical planning.

It’s not about ticking boxes — it’s about identifying opportunities that matter to your community and making change that lasts.

Process Overview

  • Organisations in the Loddon Mallee & Hume regions can register interest by:

Reaching out to the CERSH team at cersh-admin@unimelb.edu.au to book an introductory session.

  • CERSH offers a short meeting (online or in person) to:

    • Introduce the checklist
    • Explain the domains and reflective questions
    • Help organisations understand how the tool can align with their goals or reporting needs
  • Organisations work through the checklist independently or with support from CERSH.

The tool includes domains such as settings and supportive environments, community action, health information and social marketing, health education and skills development and screening and individual risk assessment.

It encourages cross-team reflection and practical conversation.

  • Once the checklist is completed, a follow-up session is held with the CERSH team.

During this session, key insights are discussed to identify strengths, gaps, and priorities for next steps.

CERSH will present a draft a Sexual Health Action Plan based on your organisation’s responses.

This draft will then be refined collaboratively with your team. CERSH provides ongoing support throughout this process, including facilitation and access to relevant tools and resources.

  • Organisations are encouraged to revisit the checklist annually to track progress, celebrate achievements, and adapt actions as needed.

To support this, CERSH will proactively reach out after 12 months to offer a check-in and assist with the review process.

Participation Incentive – Free Condoms

Organisations located in the Loddon Mallee or Hume regions that complete the Promoting Sexual Health Organisational Opportunities Checklist will receive a pack of 100 free condoms to support local SRH promotion.

If the checklist is reviewed and updated annually, the organisation will remain eligible to receive 100 free condoms each year.
