North East Roadshow
Overview
From January to June 2026, CERSH in partnership with Multicultural Health & Support Service (MHSS) and Women’s Health Goulburn North East (WHGNE), delivered a series of workforce and community education sessions covering various aspects of sexual and reproductive health for culturally diverse communities.
Our sessions aim to build the capacity of the local workforce to be able to engage with and have sensitive conversations with multicultural communities on various sexual and reproductive health topics.
The community health education session topics were identified and co-designed in collaboration with local partners and community to ensure local priorities were reflected.
Additionally, a collaborative partnership with Primary Care Connect was developed to deliver a train the trainer program for the Health System Navigators to provide sexual and reproductive health education to the Great Shepparton region.
Who is it for?
Health and community workforce
Youth workers, health promotion officers, school nurses, TAFE students, headspace staff, community health workers.
Multicultural community members
All community member from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are welcome. Children are also welcome accompanied by as responsible adult.
How sessions were identified
The topics and locations for each roadshow session are shaped by what our local stakeholders and partners tell us, not by what we think communities need from the outside. For the North East Roadshow, workforce and community feedback from the Hume region pointed clearly to the need for cross-cultural SRH education and stronger connections between health services and local multicultural communities. Each session is co-designed with local partners and community connectors to ensure content and delivery is appropriate, accessible and genuinely useful.

North East Roadshow Poster presented at ASHM Australasian Sexual and Reproductive Health Conference
CERSH Project Officer, Kate Toomey, presented a conference poster on the North East Roadshow at the ARSH conference. The poster highlighted the program’s innovative approach to improving access to sexual and reproductive health education in regional communities, with a particular focus on the social, political and cultural factors that influence health outcomes.
